Brief description: An evergreen, polygamo-dioecious shrub to 3 m with puberulent twigs. Leaves are leathery, thick, oblanceolate, small, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, margins distally, minutely toothed. Flowers are mostly unisexual, the staminate in small, pedicellate clusters, the pistillate usually solitary. Fruits are a black, dry, persistent drupe.
