Common name: Holly mahonia, barberry.

Brief description: An evergreen shrub to 1.5 m tall.  Leaves are pinnately compound, alternate; the 5 to 9 leaflets are ovate-lanceolate, glossy dark-green above, light green below, entire, margins spiny-toothed.  Flowers are perfect, yellow, in fascicled racemes.  Fruits are a blue, glaucous berry.

Campus data: Cultivated extremely rarely on campus.  Encountered in one spot.
