Common name: Smooth sumac.

Brief description: A sparingly branched  polygamous to dioecious shrub up to 6 m, with the petioles and the young branches glabrous and glaucous. Well developed latex-ducts. Leaves are odd-pinnately compound, alternate; leaflets are 11-31, lanceolate to narrowly oblong, entire, pinnately veined, quite pale beneath, margins serrate-toothed. Flowers are unisexual, greenish,  in terminal, dense panicles. Fruits are drupaceous, scarlet, sticky pubescent.

Campus data: Very rare in the wild on campus on the edge of Westhampton Lake.
