Common name: White elm, American elm.

Brief description: A medium-sized to large tree. Leaves are ovate-oblong to obovate, oblique at base, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, smooth on both surfaces, margins doubly serrate-toothed. Flowers are small and inconspicuous, perfect, in fascicles. Fruits are an elliptic, glabrous samara with densely ciliate margins. 

Campus data: Abundant everywhere in the wild on campus, not cultivated. Mature trees are of very variable size.
